Network State

The Vibe: A new kind of digital-first society or “country” built around shared values, online-first, and powered by crypto — the next step beyond nation-states.

The Details: A Network State (coined by Balaji Srinivasan in his 2022 book) is an online community that crowdfunds resources, gains diplomatic recognition, and eventually secures physical territory. It starts as a startup society (Discord, X, Telegram group), grows into a crypto-funded entity (DAO with treasury, tokens for governance), and aims for real-world sovereignty (land, citizenship, laws). Powered by blockchain for transparent governance, payments (stablecoins), identity (NFTs/POAPs), and coordination. Examples in 2026: early experiments like Praxis, Culdesac, or crypto cities; some DAOs and custom blockchains are seen as proto-network states.

Pro Tip: Network states are still mostly theoretical — watch for projects with strong treasuries, real traction, and legal progress (e.g., charter cities, crypto-friendly zones). Join communities early if interested, but DYOR deeply — many are hype or scams. It’s a long-term vision, not a quick investment.
